Do many of you get crimp marks in your hair from the curling iron clamp? Those curling wands can be pretty pricy. This is a great money saver that I found over at The Beauty Department, which is also a website that Lauren Conrad contributes to! 

D.I.Y. // Thrift

So I've been wanting a large mirror for some time but they can be so expensive. While on Pinterest I found this Krylon Glass Looking spray paint that turns glass into a mirror. I thought to myself, "I gotta try this!" I went to Goodwill to look for an inexpensive framed picture and also got Pistachio spray paint for the frame. 

I thought that it turned out great but the quality of the glass looking paint wasn't as clear as I hoped. The mirror looks a little hazy but it does look like a mirror. I'm happy with the way it turned out! It was so easy to do and will look great in my apartment! 

D.I.Y. Gift Bow

D.I.Y. Yarn Letter

I used this letter to decorate my parents home for the holidays. F is for our last name. It's a easy and simple way to spice up any space!

DIY // Fabric Wreath

This past Summer I found some scraps of fabric for sale at a garage sale that I planned on using for bunting. I haven't got around for that project but I found this very cute idea for a holiday wreath made from scraps of fabric and a wire hanger here.

Pretty simple huh?

DIY // Glitter Pumpkin

I didn't have much time this year to carve a pumpkin so I decided to glam one up this year instead. 

Supplies

Carving tools - Walmart $ 3.87

Glitter Spray Paint - Michaels $ 2

Pumpkin - $1.50

Candle - Home

 1. First I dotted a outline for where I was going to cut the top off

 2. Get all the messy stuff out

 3. Paint time (follow instructions on can)

 *Pretty*

 4. After you let it dry just add the candle

And that's my take on trying to glam up a pumpkin!

I did manage to carve a pumpkin as well this year with my team for a team activity. The Seniors were put into a group and I drew this one and they cut it out! I love it!

DIY: Upcycle that old shirt

This was my last weekend at home before leaving for my senior year of college. So I had to do a little bit of clean house. Being an athlete I have accumulated many shirts from traveling and tournaments. Instead of just throwing the shirts in the trash I found a cute way to turn an old shirt into a cute jersey skirt with my twist on it. I found this idea from this cute blog here.

Supplies:

- Large or extra large men's shirt

- Scissors 

- 1 inch elastic

- Safety pin

- Needle and thread

-pins

- Sewing machine <Recommended! Did mine by hand :( >

Optional- Fabric for bow

Step 1: (picture not shown...sorry) 

- Cut a large t-shirt in half ( right under the arm seam)

Step 2:

- Flip the shirt inside out and fold the top of the shirt about an inch and a half & pin in place

- STITCH!

 Step 3:

- Cut a small opening on the inside so that it is big enough for the pin and elastic to easily slide through

- Carefully slide and gather the elastic until both ends meet

- You might want to try it on to get the correct measurement to sew the elastic closed

 Step 4:

-Sew both end of the elastic together

 Step 5:

- Stitch the elastic opening

 Step 6: 

- Flip the shirt right side out and you got yourself your own handmade skirt from what used to be an old shirt!

 Optional Bow

- Cut an oval shape out of a pretty looking fabric

 - Gather the fabric in the middle and stitch in place

- If you have left over scraps wrap it around the middle of the bow

- Stitch the bow wherever you would like on the skirt

easy chalkboard mirrored frames

I am trying to be very budget friendly for my wedding as well as eco friendly. I got inspiration to hand make these easy to-do chalkboard frames from this wedding that has given me so many great ideas.

Supplies
- Mirror with frame (I got mine from a yard sale)
- Chalkboard spray (Michaels)
- Chalk (Target for only $1!)

Step 1: 

Carefully take mirror out of frame. Make sure to clean the mirror well with a glass cleaner.

Step 2:

Spray paint the mirror! I had to put mine in a cardboard box so that I wouldn't ruin the yard (mother's orders).

Let dry for 24 hours....

Step 3:
To break in the board, rub the surface with the side of chalk and remove with a felt eraser.
Reassemble the mirror and BADA-BOOM you're done!

I can't wait to use these for the guest book table and even the dessert table at my wedding! I hope you enjoyed this quick and simple DIY!

DIY flower pom poms

A majority of my decor for my wedding will be handmade. I am trying to keep the cost of my wedding down and I know that flowers can be a little pricy. I will be hanging large pom poms from the ceiling at our venue but thought it would be a great idea to incorporate a smaller pom to put on the tables. So stumbled across these > poms and wanted to make them my way. I made these flower pom poms to use for centerpieces.
